Gov. Bala Moh'd's Giant Stride on Agriculture and Economic Empowerment in Bauchi State

Governor footprints on Agiculture and Empowerment in Bauchi State have been significant in driving growth and development in the region. The government has made agriculture a top priorty, focusing an key value chains such as rice, sesame, sorghum, groundnuts, and ruminants This strategic approach aims to ensure food security, create job opportunties, and attract private investments in the agricultural sector.

One of the key initiatives undertaken by the government is the revitalisation of agricutural input supply chains. This includes restructuring and reviving the Bauchi Fertilizer Blending Company and Bauchi State Agricultural Supply Company, as well as engaging the private sector in the supply of quality inputs and farming implements. By improving access to inputs famers are better equipped to increase their productivity and yield.

Futhermore, the government has ivested in the vaccination of over 800,000 herds of cattle in the state, deronstrating its comitment to the livestock sector This initiative not only ensures the health and well-being of livestock but also cortributes to the overall growth of the agricutural economy.
In addition to these efforts, the govemment has focused on enhancing crop and livestock productivity through tha introdution of smart crops and high-yield varietis by providing training and support to Estension Services Workers the govenment aims to build a skilled workforce that can effectively assist farmers in adopting modern agricultural practices.

Moreover, the government has initiated negotiations to revamp key agricultural facilities such as the Galambi Cattle Ranch, Gubi and Madangala Dairy Farms, and the Bauchi Meat Products Company. These interventions are expected to create high paying jobe and stimulate economic growth in the state.
On the empowerment front, the government has implemerted various programs to support unemployed youths in acquiring valuable skills Traning programs in welding, animal traction, poultry production, ICT and other areas have been conducted in collaboration with the Industrial Training Fund. This intiative aims to equip young people with the necessary skills to engage in productive activities and become self reliant.

Futhermore, the government has provided alternative means of livelihood for youth by procuring and delivering 1,000 commercial tricycles as a substitute for banned commercial motorcycle businesses. Additionaly, commercial cars have been distributed to members of the National Union of Road Tranaport Workers (NURTW) and Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), further empowering individuals in the transpartatian sector.

The Kaura Economic Empowerment Program (KEEP) has also played a significant role in distbursing cash and properties worth 75 million Naira in each of the 18 Local Govermment Areas while Bauchi and Katagum LGAs benefitted with over 150 millon Naira. This intiative has provided financial support to individuals and communities, fostering economic growth and development at the grassroots level.
