Gov. Bala Moh'd's Giant Stride on Health Sector in Bauchi State

Govemor Bala Mohammed has made significant strides in the health sector in Bauchi State, focusing on improving health care infrastructure and services to ensure that quality health care is accessible to all residents.
One of the key accomplishments in the health sector under his leadership is the rehabilitation and re-equipping of a minimum of one Gereral Hospital in each of the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state. This initiative aims to extend quality healthcare services to the doorsteps of the people making it easier for residents to access essential medical care.

As part of the Kaura's 2021/2022 Health Project, Nine dilapidated general hospitals in Alkaleri, Kirfi, Toro, Kafin-Madaki, Dans, Misau, Gamawa, Zaki, and Itas were renovated and equipped. Additionally, Four new cottage hospltals were constructed in Dambam, Warji, Azare, and Yelwan Duguri, further expanding healthcare facilities in the state, These efforts have heiped to improve the infrastructure and capacity of heath-care facilites, ensuring that residents have access to quality medical services. Governor Bala Mohammed has also focused on strengthening primary healthcare services in the state. Steady progress has been made towards equipping each of the 323 electoral wards with at least one functional primary health care center.

Through collaboration with development partners such as the EU-UNICEF Project, 107 PHC facilities were renovated and 43 new PHC tacilities were constructed across the state, Additionally. 12 main PHCs were renovated under the BORN Project, further enhancing primary heathcare services in Bauchi State.
Furthermore, under the AF-NSHIP Intiative with the World Bank, a total of 204 PHCs in 10 out of the 20 local govenment areas have been upgraded and stocked with medical consumables, This initiative has helped to improve the quality of care provided at the primary healthcare level, ensuring that residents have access to essential medical services closer to their communities.

Governor Bala Mohammed has also prioritised maternal and child heath in Bauchi State. The launch of the Maternal New born and Child Heath (MNCH) Drug Revolving Fund (DRF) worth N480 million in collaboration with USAID has helped to ensure the availability of essential drugs and supplies for maternal and child health services. Additionally, the Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASHCMA) has enrolled over 50 thousand beneficiaries in its Vulnerable Program, with more than N500 million disbursed for primary and secondary health facilities.

Recently, the state government of Bauchi procured a multimillion Naira dialysis radiography machine at the Specialist Hospital in Bauchi. This is significant investment in healthcare infrastructure is a testament to the government's commitment to improving the quality of healthcare services in the state.
